When Montezuma-Cortez and Ignacio meet Friday night, one of the programs will walk away with its first win of the season.
The two teams are in a transitional period, as they have new head coaches looking to turn their school’s program around. It hasn’t gone smoothly thus far, but positive strides will be made in Ignacio as one of the teams will prevail.
The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Ignacio.
Montezuma-Cortez (0-3) will play in its third road game out of four games played this season. The Panthers are coming off of a 46-20 loss to the tough competition of 5A Grand Junction Central. In the loss, junior running back Coby Baer ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns and caught one pass for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Ignacio (0-3) was shut out in its first two games of the season but kept it closer last week at Pagosa Springs in a 24-6 loss.
