Skiers, snowboarders to have more terrain to ride

Ski and snowboard enthusiast will have more terrain to ride at Purgatory Resort this weekend, as executives at the ski area on Thursday announced Lift 3 will open Saturday.
As of Thursday, 20 of 91 trails were open at Purgatory, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, with a base depth of 24 inches. Currently, one lift is open.
According to OpenSnow.com, the area’s next chance of snow will be Saturday, which is expected to drop about 1 to 3 inches. More snow is forecast late next week, just in time for the grand opening of Legends Lift 8 at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 19.
