Seniors Outdoors announces activities

Seniors Outdoors will offer these activities:

The Wednesday Wanderers will walk the Animas River Trail at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. No RSVP is required. Dogs must be on a leash. For more information, call Eric Pahlke at 247-1130.

John Martin will lead a group snowshoeing in the mountains on Saturday. An avalanche beacon and shovel will be required on most outings. Dogs are allowed. For details on the destination, descriptions and requirements, RSVP to John Martin at 247-2581 or email jmartin@mydurango.net.

Downhill ski groups are available. For more information or to be placed on a group distribution list, email Bruce Rodman at Mtnman16@gmail.com. Meeting days and times vary according to abilities and snow conditions.

The Seniors Outdoors Singles will host an easy/beginner snowshoe or hike, depending on the snow cover in La Plata Canyon, at 11 a.m. Sunday. No beacons are needed. Participants should dress warm, and bring snowshoes, water and lunch. To RSVP, call 769-3009.

Nordic Center closes, likely for season

The Nordic Center at Purgatory has had to close because of lack of snow.

To re-open the center will need at least a foot of new snow.
