Vallecito Nordic Trails to host Demo Days
Demo Days will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Vallecito Nordic Trails.
Participants will be able to try new gear, including skis, poles, boots and snowshoes. Representatives from various companies and local shops will be present. People will need to bring identification in order to try out equipment for free.

Coke race series will start Saturday at Nordic Center
The Nordic Center at Purgatory will host the first race in its Coke race series Saturday.
There will be a 10-kilometer skate ski race for adults with shorter distances for juniors and also a 10K fat bike race. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Nordic Center, the ski races will start at 10 a.m., and the bike race will start at 11 a.m. The cost of the race is $15 for adults and $8 for juniors.
The Nordic Center also will host a skate ski clinic for women at 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be classes for all ability levels. Equipment rentals are available at the center. The cost is $25 for center season-pass holders, $30 for others.

Seniors Outdoors! announces its schedule
Seniors Outdoors! announces these programs:
The general meeting will take place Tuesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave. A social will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. “Mediterranean Coastline, Reverie to Reality” will be presented by Dick Cotton, who traveled on a 40-foot motor yacht from France to Turkey.
A moderate snowshoe in the Cascade Creek area will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The exact route will depend on snow conditions and group preference. The trip will last about four hours. The Wednesday Wanderers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Santa Rita Park to walk the Animas River Trail. RSVP is not required. Dogs must be on a leash. For more information, call Eric Pahlke at 247-1130.

Seniors Outdoors! Singles will ski Local Days at Purgatory at 10 a.m. Sunday. A coupon is needed and can be found in The Durango Herald or on the Durango Mountain Resort website. Proceeds will benefit Our Place at Grandview, an adult day care center. Participants will meet at Lift 1, the six-pack chair, at 10 a.m. or for lunch at 12:30 p.m. upstairs at Dante’s. Seniors Outdoors! Singles will host a carpool to Wolf Creek Ski Area which will depart at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday from Santa Rita Park. Participants should meet in the parking lot on the left behind the park sign. Skiers will have lunch at the lodge.
