Durango loses to Delta 9-4 in game shortened by time limit

Durango softball falls to Delta

Durango High School’s softball team ran out of time on Friday in the opening matchup of the Delta tournament.

A common occurrence in tournament play, the time limit rule caught up with the Demons. When time expired, the Demons fell to Delta 9-4.

“We struggled to find our rhythm,” Durango head coach Chelsea Rodriguez said in an email to The Durango Herald. “Delta had some clutch hits when we didn’t, and that’s really what decided the game.”

Durango pitcher Cami Bisbee threw a complete game, racking up six strikeouts and fanning the side in an impressive third inning.

Offensively, Katrina Chandler and Kelly Perry led the way for Durango. Chandler went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and Perry finished 1-for-3 with a double that led to two runs batted in.

The Demons will look to bounce back with a double-header Saturday against Rifle and Eagle Valley.
