Lions sponsoring ladies day shoot
The Bayfield Lions Club and Wolverine School of Personal Safety will host a women's basic defensive pistol class at the Bayfield Lions Club/Art Davis range on CR 223 on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The class will start at 9 a.m. and finish at 11 a.m. Hearing and eye protection will be necessary, sunglasses are acceptable. The rifle/pistol range will be closed to all other shooting during this event. Husbands and boyfriends are not invited, sorry guys.
Ladies of any experience are welcome; bring your handguns and ammunition. Participants will learn basic safety and defensive shooting skills or hone the ones they already have. An experienced instructor and assistants will run the class and be available to answer questions. Registration is not required.
The class is free but donations are appreciated and will go the Bayfield Lions Club.

Church holding mass, potluck
Saint Francis of Assisi Mission will hold a mass at 11 a.m. Sunday, followed by a potluck. The event is on the old Gallegos Road, between mile marker 25 and 26 on State Highway 151. For more information, call 883-2448.
Horsemen to learn about GPS apps
The Four Corners Back Country Horsemen will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 at Bayfield Town Hall. The educational program will feature a San Juan Hot Shots firefighter who will discuss phone-based GPS apps for use in the backcountry. Guests are always welcome.

Commissioner to meet public in Bayfield
County Commissioner Julie Westendorff will hold her monthly office time in Bayfield from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Pine River Library. Residents are invited to come with questions or comments about county issues. For information call 382-6219.
Library holding computer classes
Ignacio Community Library will hold a class on Internet basics at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13. Participants will learn the basics of Google Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer and valuable skills in browsing smartly, maintaining security, and networking socially while online.
A Windows 10 overview is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. Microsoft released their latest operating system in July. Most new computers will be shipping with it pre-installed. New features of Windows 10 and how it is fundamentally different from Windows 7 and Windows 8 will be covered.
