Best bets in and around Durango

Durango’s grilling competition, Men Who Grill, returns from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Buckley Park. This family-friendly event features all-you-can-eat grilled creations, live music, children’s activities and a beer tent from Steamworks Brewing Co.

This event raises money for the Women’s Resource Center. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. For children 5 to 12 years old, tickets are $15 and children younger than 5 can attend free. Tickets can be purchased at Maria’s Bookshop, the Women’s Resource Center and online at www.wrcdurango.org.

The eighth annual Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering Outdoor Concert and Barn Dance featuring the Tim Sullivan Band will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at River Bend Ranch, 27846 U.S. Highway 550.

There will be a silent auction featuring artwork and items from local businesses. Attendees can bring their own picnic, or enjoy food and drinks from Cuevas Tacos Food Truck, Lone Spur Cafe and Cream Bean Berry Ice Cream.
