Minor collision on Highway 160 sends one to hospital

Authorities suspect alcohol was involved
Two vehicles turning onto U.S. Highway 160 in the 29000 block lead to a head-on crash that sent a woman to Mercy Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. A pickup truck pulling a large flatbed trailer turned west onto Highway 160 from Valle Escondido Drive at the same time a sedan turned eastbound onto the highway from the opposite side from a driveway that resulted in both vehicles colliding head on in the center of the highway.

A minor head-on car collision on U.S. Highway 160 sent one to the hospital Tuesday morning, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The accident occurred near Elmore’s Corner around 8 a.m. and involved a Jaguar and a Chevy pickup.

A female was driving the Jaguar and was transported to the nearby Mercy Regional Medical Center as a precautionary measure, CSP Capt. Adrian Driscoll said.

Driscoll had no further details about either driver or if there were passengers in either vehicle, but said alcohol may have been involved. He was not immediately sure which driver was suspected of consuming alcohol.

The crash briefly closed the roadway.
