Photos: Culverts installed at Falls Creek subdivision to handle runoff from burn scar

Stan Whinnery uses a trackhoe to lower a 15,000-pound concrete box culvert as Will Smith, back left, Alan Reyes, front left, and Max Ramirez, all with Whinnery Construction, assist on Friday at Falls Creek Ranch Subdivision. Five cement box culverts are being installed under a road in the subdivision to replace two 36-inch metal pipes that failed when carrying runoff from the 416 Fire burn scar. Debris from the 2018 fire has closed the Falls Creek main on many occasions and was in need of a permanent solution. Grant money helped to fund the project. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
