This week at Merely Underground theater, on Tech Center Drive, “The Half-Life of Marie Curie” will be performed by Merely Players. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
During the height of her accomplishments, Curie is targeted with a campaign of hate because of an affair that resulted in threats on her and her children’s lives. Reeling from public scandal, Curie retreats to the seaside home of Hertha Ayrton. The two friends explore what it means to be women, scientists and leaders in a changing world on the verge of war. Curie is known for, among other things, winning the Nobel Prize in chemistry for her discovery of the elements radium and polonium. Ayrton was an electromechanical engineer and suffragette.
Tickets cost $30. For more information and tickets, visit Merelyplayers.org.
