Transit Center parking lot closed
The Durango Transit Center parking lot will be closed on Monday and Tuesday as the city repaves part of the parking lot.
Current parking permit-holders may continue to the use the city lots on Second Avenue. Permit-holders also may use meters along Narrow Gauge Avenue and the meters on streets west of Narrow Gauge (College, 7th, 8th and 9th streets) by displaying a current hangtag for the days the Transit Center parking lot is closed for maintenance.

Public input sought on county projects
The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado (Region 9) is in the process of updating the La Plata County Community Development Action Plan and public comment is welcome.
The document is a list of projects to be started or completed within the next two years, and the draft documents are available at www.scan.org for review until Nov. 13.
The document will then be presented to the county commissioners. Action plan categories include but are not limited to: public infrastructure, public services, economic development and housing.
Region 9 updates and monitors the plans for Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties in an ongoing cycle about every two years.

Community center to host grand opening
The Education, Literacy, Health & Inspiration (ELHI) Community Center will host a grand opening from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 30 at 115 Ute St. in Ignacio.
The event will be a Harvest Festival-themed gala, that will include: ribbon-cutting ceremony; self-guided tours; family-oriented fun and games; horse-drawn covered wagon rides; haunted house; children’s costume contest with prizes; and dinner provided by Pine River Community Shares, meat donated by Farmers Fresh Market; and a community potluck.
ELHI’s partners all share the vision and mission to provide public education, arts and life skills. Space is available in the center for community events and workshops.

High Noon Rotary Club to meet Thursday
The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The cost for lunch is $15. Peter Butler of the Animas River Stakeholders will give a history and update of the group.
Mitigation of water pollution will be discussed.
