Highlight of the week

The Durango-La Plata County Senior Center will host “Effective Communication Strategies,” an educational event presented by the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Wednesday (March 15) at the center, 2424 Main Ave.

Attendees will learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. This event is free, open to the public and no RSVP is required.
