Ogsbury-Jones rejects proposed plea agreement

A suspect connected with a fatal shooting at the Iron Horse Inn that killed one and injured another has foregone a plea deal and is scheduled to go to trial Feb. 1, 2016.

Tyree Ogsbury-Jones was arrested in March on suspicion of first-degree murder. Investigators believe Ogsbury-Jones, 22 at the time, shot Brian Keith Moore, 54, four times at the Iron Horse Inn at 5800 Main Avenue over a dispute involving marijuana. Moore’s injuries were not fatal.

Ogsbury-Jones also twice shot Moore’s roommate Daniel Johnson, who did not survive the attack, court documents say. The 6th Judicial District Attorney’s office subsequently filed 21 charges against him that included murder, attempted murder and “crime of violence.”

Ogsbury-Jones was accompanied on the shooting by friend Aaron Williams, who accepted a plea deal in July that will sentence him to 10-30 years in prison. Sentencing is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

On Thursday, Ogsbury-Jones rejected a plea deal in 6th Judicial District Judge Jeffrey Wilson’s court. Assistant District Attorney Reid Stewart said the terms are not public record.

Ogsbury-Jones’ attorney, John Moran, would not comment on his client’s case. A motion hearing to set parameters for the trial and a pre-trial conference are set for 8 a.m. Jan. 4. The trial is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Feb. 1.
