The Ignacio High School football team hosted North Fork on Saturday to kick its season off, but it was unable to start with a win. North Fork jumped out to a 31-0 lead at halftime and never looked back, eventually beating the Bobcats 45-6.
After lightning delayed its opener on Tuesday, the Durango High School softball hosted Montrose for a doubleheader on Saturday to get its season going.
The Red-Tailed Hawks, however, scored a 15-0 win in Game 1, plating two in the second, three in the third and then continuing to pull away.
Game 2 was still in progress as this paper went to press.
