A 50-year-old man was rescued Saturday evening at Purgatory Flats after a horse fell on him.
He was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center by helicopter, said Butch Knowlton, director of La Plata County’s Office of Emergency Management.
Knowlton did not know the nature of his injuries.
La Plata County Search & Rescue helped Durango Fire Protection District rescue the man. He was a few miles east of Purgatory in the Cascade Creek drainage.
