Durango High School the target of another ‘swatting’ call

Authorities received a bomb threat from a foreign phone number

In yet another “swatting” incident, Durango High School received a bomb threat Thursday from a foreign phone number, prompting the school to go into a “secure” mode while police swept the campus.

Durango Police Department found nothing out of the ordinary during its sweep.

The high school was in a secure mode from 12:57 to 1:15 p.m., according to a news release from Durango School District 9-R. During that time, students were inside the school with doors locked and classroom learning commencing as normal.

DHS, along with other schools across the country, have been the targets of swatting calls this school year. Swatting is a term used to describe a hoax phone call warning of an impending emergency like a bomb threat or an individual who might cause others harm.
