Trails 2000 to open season with party
Trails 2000 will host these programs:
The Join and Renew Party will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 22 at Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave. Participants will have the opportunity to meet Dewayne Buratti, who joins Trails 2000 as the new trail coordinator.
Trailwork Season Kick Off Party – Tree Planting will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Vallecito’s Pine Point Campground. To sign up, visit www.Trails2000.org.
Wednesday Public Trailwork Night will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Overend Mountain Park. Trails 2000 will provide tools, gloves, safety/instructional tool talk, water and healthy snacks. Volunteers should wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes, sun hat, sunscreen, water bottle and rain jacket.
Crew-leader training lead by Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado will be held April 25-26. Sign-up is required by emailing info@Trails2000.org.
Trail Kids Program will be held May 4, 11 and 18. Trails 2000 will work with more than 450 Durango students.
Colorado Trail Work Weekend will take place June 19-20.
Todd and Ned’s Durango Dirt Fondo will take place Sept. 12. Trails 2000 is beneficiary of the event. Registration is open at www.toddandnedfondo.com.

BLM grazing board to meet in Gunnison
The Bureau of Land Management Grazing Advisory Board for Southwest Colorado will meet at 10 a.m. April 22 at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds in Gunnison.

Colorado State University Extension is offering “Legally Secure Your Financial Future,” a program designed to help people evaluate and organize all their legal affairs.
Advance directives will be discussed from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Necessary legal documents will be discussed from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Classes will be held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Ignacio resident leads Young Farmer group
Tyrell Williams of Ignacio, a second-generation Colorado Young Farmer representing the Southwest Chapter, has been elected to lead the Colorado Young Farmer Educational Association during the 2015-16 year.
Williams was elected during the association’s February meeting in Loveland.
Bird club invites you on its monthly hike
The Durango Bird Club will depart for its monthly hike at 8:15 a.m. Saturday from the Durango Joe’s adjacent to Escalante Middle School.
A two-hour hike around Pastorius Reservoir is planned with the possibility of a visit to Zink’s Pond, if time allows.
