Kids can learn performing arts
The Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., will offer the second session of the summer performing-arts camp Imagination Station for children ages 7 to 9 from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through July 10.
“Africa” is the camp’s theme. Kids will explore the continent’s ancient civilization, music, wild animals and more.
The second session of the performing-arts camp Lil’ Thespians for children ages 4 to 6 will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 13 to July 17. Africa will also be the theme.
These camps will offer creative movement, speech, storytelling and character development.
Session 3 of Imagination Station will take place from Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 for ages 4 to 6 and from Aug. 10 to Aug. 14 for ages 7 to 9. The theme for these sessions will be the “English Renaissance.”

Animas High School to raft river, barbecue
The second annual Animas on the Animas Raft Trip and Barbecue will be held July 9.
Animas High School students, parents, faculty members, staff members and alumni will meet at Mild to Wild at 3:30 p.m. to float the Animas River and then gather for a barbecue at 6:30 p.m. at Pioneer Park.

For the barbecue, main dishes and drinks will be provided by AHS. Participants should bring a side dish or dessert to share.
