The board of directors of Colorado Timberline Academy announces that they have hired Dreher Robertson as the new school director. He was chosen because of his strong history of engaging students by bringing relevance to every aspect of their learning, and of building positive relationships with staff and students in alternative high school settings.

Robertson served for four years as teacher and six years as administrator at Big Picture High School in Durango. Most recently, he worked in the dual roles of principal of Vista Nueva High School and director of San Juan College East in Aztec.

Robertson has chosen Natalie Mitchell to be his assistant director. Mitchell worked for four years at Timberline as Spanish teacher and co-leader of the bike program. This past year, she taught English language development at Durango High School. She will complete her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Critical Pedagogy this fall. Robertson and Mitchell plan to continue strengthening connections with the Durango community through internships, volunteer work and cooperative activities.

Colorado Timberline Academy, founded in 1975, offers a nontraditional college preparatory curriculum for high school students. The school provides a strong academic program along with outdoor activities that involve every student.
