Mancos teen dies in crash

Twin brother is hospitalized

Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision along U.S. Highway 160 in Costilla County.

A Colorado State Patrol spokesperson said the collision occurred near mile marker 261 about 8:45 a.m. Friday. Officials said passengers in separate vehicles, Tyler Allee-Jumbo, a 16-year-old boy from Mancos, and a 64-year-old woman from Manzanola, both died on the scene.

A 2005 Subaru, driven by Tyler’s twin brother, Casey Allee-Jumbo, was traveling west when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2003 GMC pickup, driven by a 68-year-old man from Manzanola, which is east of Pueblo, according to information obtained by the Cortez Journal. Both drivers were seriously injured, authorities said.

Weather conditions at the time of the accident were not noted in a State Patrol report. Officials said neither alcohol nor drugs was suspected. No seat-belt information was provided.

Casey Allee-Jumbo, was reported in stable condition but remained in intensive care as of Monday.

A small family burial for Tyler Allee-Jumbo was planned for Thursday morning, followed by a memorial at the Dolores Community Center starting at 12:30 p.m.

The boys attended Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs, according to their Facebook pages.

An online GoFundMe page was launched to help cover funeral costs and medical expenses.
