‘Yes’ to Proposition 131

It would be different if our parties were behaving responsibly. But especially on the state and national level, they continue to create divisiveness with biased narratives pushing fear and anger. They often use language filled with vitriol and hate. If our legislatures attempt to work together across the aisle, they are likely to lose their next primary. As such, their inability to pass meaningful legislation in a timely manner is a threat to our very national security. They have created a dark political culture.

I am not against our major parties. However, in the context of our current election system, they are so much part of the problem that they themselves cannot fix the problem. Therefore, it is up to the voters to do something about it. Proposition 131 is a great first step. Both parties oppose it because they have less influence over the outcome of elections. Instead it gives more say to the voters. Both parties are putting out weak or unsubstantiated narratives and claims to exploit potential weaknesses of Prop. 131. It may not be perfect, no election system is. But Prop. 131 is definitely better than what we have now, a system that is not working.

Please join me and vote for Prop. 131 and to put positive energy back into our election process. The true patriots are not the ones who defend their parties at all costs, but those who stand up and fight for a healthier and stronger nation.
