Two large cottonwood trees show beaver activity Wednesday along the Animas River near Ninth Street Bridge. When Durango Parks and Recreation notice beaver activity, employees visit the site to place wire cages around trees worth protecting. Yet, some trees are left as a food source for the beavers.
