My son, Brian Shafer, and I have been volunteers at the La Plata County Senior Center.
Starting in February, due to budget constraints, the new hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
For the past 10 years that we have volunteered, the seniors assembled on Fridays have referred to the day as “BRIday!”
You can guess why. My son Brian volunteers on that day. It seems that most seniors and veterans in the community relate to the day as BRIday!
Brian and I would like to take this time to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff and many seniors we have come to know and love.
The past 10 years have blessed us with rewarding friendships and memories. It is our hope that in the future we can all gather together again on BRIday.
