My heart aches for my country, burdened by the actions of our current president and his unlawful group who are tearing apart our constitutional republic.
As a fifth-generation Western Coloradan, this pain is deeply rooted in my heritage. My ancestors felt it, too.
My father, Daniel, served our nation with pride in the U.S. Air Force during the great war, as part of the 75th Bombardment Squadron, initially stationed in New Caledonia.
His great-grandfather, John Logan Black, fought bravely for the Union in the Civil War but was mortally wounded and passed away in Tennessee.
Going further back, John Logan Black’s great-grandfather, Thomas Osborn Black, served in the Revolutionary Army from North Carolina and stands as our family’s revered patriot.
On my mother’s side, George Washington Noble, her great-grandfather, carried the Union flag through the First Battle of Memphis and the Battle of Bayou Fourche near Little Rock, Arkansas.
The powerful inscription on the flag, “Death to Traitors,” captured the spirit of their fight. Through generations and defining wars, my ancestors stood for the rights and freedoms we cherish – then and now.
Today, we face dangerous times as our rights are steadily stripped away, threatened by those who aim to dismantle our Constitution and the rule of law.
Like those who came before me, I will stand firm and fight relentlessly to safeguard our nation. I will protest peacefully and resist anyone who disregards my rights and the principles of law that hold this country together.
