SGM, a multidisciplinary engineering, consulting and surveying firm headquartered in Glenwood Springs, with additional offices in Meeker, Gunnison, Grand Junction, Salida, Durango and Aspen, awards scholarships to assist aspiring civil engineers and surveyors in pursuit of their studies. The Steve Westhoff Scholarship honors Steve Westhoff, an SGM field engineer whose integrity, humor and vast technical knowledge inspired SGM and many clients.
This year, SGM received 17 applications from across Western Colorado, and the quality of the students’ achievements continues to impress us each year. The chosen scholarship recipients demonstrated outstanding potential in their respective fields and will receive up to $2,000 to support their academic journey.
- Cully Feeney: Durango High School (Colorado School of Mines – Electrical Engineering).
- Jane Taylor: Roaring Fork High School (University of Colorado – Architectural Engineering)
- Zealand Lane: Basalt High School (Cal Poly – Civil/Mechanical Engineering).
- Johnathan Overbye: Fruita Monument High School (Colorado School of Mines – Mechanical Engineering)
- Tristan Sager: (Colorado School of Mines – Mechanical Engineering)
Since the program's inception, SGM has awarded a total of $114,000 to Western Slope high school students attending college for an engineering or surveying degree.
