The Durango Area Association of Realtors understands that tourism and tourism impacts make up nearly a third of our economy in the Durango area.
DAAR also acknowledges tourists use and benefit from local transit, which also allows the workforce that serves them to make it to work on time, with nearly 30% of the community reliant upon it for essential transportation needs.
The Arts District was also created for the benefit of our community, and this tax would provide it a funding mechanism, which contributes to the continued enrichment and quality of life improvements our residents’ livelihood benefit from, and our visitors come to admire.
DAAR proudly endorses the effort to increase local funding sources without having to tax the local community, and supports ballot initiative 1A, “The Tax That Locals Don’t Pay.”
