The Battle of the Animas is back for its 21st year on Tuesday, bringing together Durango businesses for a high-energy raft race down the Animas River.

Hosted by Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours, the event features teams from local restaurants, shops, and hotels racing head-to-head with one of Mild to Wild’s guides. Teams of up to eight employees will paddle from the 32nd Street put-in to Santa Rita Park in a Le Mans-style start, where all boats launch simultaneously.

“We’re excited to bring this fun, team-building tradition back to the community,” said Mild to Wild owner Alex Mickel.

Check-in begins at 10 a.m. at the Mild to Wild office on Animas View Drive. The race starts at 10:45 a.m., and awards will follow at Santa Rita Park. Prizes include a traveling trophy for the top three teams.

A free barbecue for racers and spectators, hosted by Steamworks Brewing Company, will be held after the awards ceremony.
