Library to host lightning safety program

Durango Public Library will host “When Lightning Strikes,” a presentation about lightning safety by Dr. Tiffany L. Brainerd, wilderness medicine doctor, 6-7:30 p.m. July 2 at the library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Brainerd will discuss potential risks of lightning injuries and ways to mitigate those risks. She will also review current recommendations for how to respond if you are caught outside in a pending or active lightning storm, while deciphering and dispelling some common lightning myths. She will also show examples of typical lightning injuries and describe what to do if you or a member of your group is the victim of a lightning strike.

All Durango Public Library programs are free and open to the public.
