We will never forget Hurd’s shameful betrayal

Rep. Jeff Hurd has betrayed the people of Colorado’s third district by voting for this big bad bill. The third district’s median household income is about $70,000, putting most of us in the second lowest tax bracket, which means that almost no one in this district will feel the full effects of the bill’s tax cuts.

What we will feel the full effects of, however, are the extreme cuts to Medicaid, which will rip hundreds of thousands of Coloradans off health insurance and threaten the very existence of rural hospitals serving our most vulnerable populations.

We will feel the full effects of the $175 billion given to ICE to enable them to disappear our community members and build concentration camps on our land. We will feel the full effects of taxing new wind and solar projects, effectively killing our green energy economy.

Jeff Hurd could have stood up for the people of his district and voted “no,” but instead, like a coward, he decided to lick the boots of the billionaires and sold out his own people.

Jeff Hurd should be ashamed, and we should not forget.
