Pam Bondi is a follower, not a leader. I knew her personally.
As an assistant state prosecutor, with very little trial experience, she was shifted by the Tampa State Attorney to being his spokesperson putting forth his public positions. While being the Florida Attorney General she parroted the needs of Gov. Rick Scott, he of the multimillion-dollar health care scandal. Now as the United States Attorney General (with no real, prior federal court experience) she is being led blindly by Trump.
I was an attorney within the Tampa criminal justice system (as a senior prosecutor then defense attorney) for 45 years. I knew the original Ms. Bondi professionally and socially as a nice, funny woman with a long, family political history in the community. Her election as the State Attorney General (a true shock to many in the local bar association) led to her achieving a high degree of self-importance, a new character trait.
One story that was spread displayed her apparent, previously unseen, but now well displayed, skill at lies and deception. She was going to marry a wealthy doctor at an expensive Grand Cayman Island resort. Approximately 100 guests attended (including the governor). It is told that on the wedding eve she was presented with a prenuptial agreement, real class by him! The wedding was off. But rather than admit her embarrassment, she said the whole trip, costing everyone a lot of money, was “only a pre-wedding party.” Not a wedding.
She’s a sad shadow of her past.
