It feels like all it took for summer to be over was a snap of the fingers. The sun is setting earlier, kids are going back to school and fall high school sports are here.
Most high school fall sports in the area begin their seasons this week as athletes hope their seasons won’t end until November. While some teams hit the road to start their seasons, there are some teams that have the luxury of starting the season at home and not on a bus.

Thursday: Durango boys golf at Montrose Red Hawk Tournament at Cobble Creek at 9 a.m.
Durango boys tennis at Fruita at 3 p.m.
Durango boys soccer vs. Legend at 6 p.m.
Bayfield boys soccer vs. Bloomfield at 6 p.m.
Friday: Durango boys tennis at Lowry Bishop Invitational in Grand Junction at 8 a.m.
Durango volleyball at St. George Tournament against Morgan, Utah, at noon
Durango volleyball at St. George Tournament against Westlake, Utah, at 3:30 p.m.
Durango football vs. Montrose at 7 p.m.
Saturday: Durango cross country at Macen Holderman Cleveland Invitational in Rio Rancho, New Mexico at 8 a.m.
Bayfield cross country, Ignacio cross country at Boggy Draw Bear Chase cross country meet in Dolores at 9 a.m.
Durango volleyball at St. George Tournament against Morgan, Utah, at 9 a.m.
Durango boys soccer vs. Rampart at 10 a.m.
Durango softball vs. Montrose at 11 a.m.
Durango volleyball at St. George Tournament against Maple Mountain, Utah, at 12:30 p.m.
