Car drives off Colorado 145 into Dolores River

Alcohol is being investigated as a potential cause in single-vehicle accident

A Dodge Ram left Colorado Highway 145 and entered the Dolores River on Friday morning, prompting a brief road closure in a single-vehicle crash in which alcohol is suspected as a potential cause.

The crash occurred roughly seven miles east of the town of Dolores and caused a road closure from 9:16 a.m. to 10:07 a.m., according to an alert sent out by the Montezuma County Emergency Alert System.

An officer at the scene reported that the vehicle ended up in a foot of water, according to Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Dillon Guinn.

The crash remains under investigation, with alcohol suspected as a factor, Guinn said.

Guinn said no injuries were reported. The vehicle has since been removed from the river, he said.
