I’ve been meaning to write this for several weeks, and the photo of the crew painting stripes on the street got me off high center (Herald, Sept. 18).
I want to express my gratitude to the work crews who fill the potholes on our streets, county roads and highways, who fill the cracks in the asphalt with tar, who run the street sweepers to minimize the road debris that can give us bicyclists and motorcyclists flat tires, and who plow the snow while the rest of us are fast asleep.
And a special shout out to the construction crews who are rebuilding 32nd street (County Road 251) with new pavement and sidewalks plus planting all of those trees and shrubs.
We don’t often get to tell you in person, but rest assured, we appreciate you.
