After some Durango residents harassed and hindered U.S. immigration agents, chained the gate of the facility and according to some witnesses physically provoked those ICE agents, the Durango City Council is calling for investigations solely against the U.S. government. Where are the arrests of the “protesters” who assaulted and hindered the ICE agents? That’s what started the altercation.
Many people in Durango are not of the far left persuasion and we’d like to see a broader investigation into Durango, preferably by the DOJ. The Durango City Council, The Durango Herald and other parts of local government have become openly hostile to ICE and any perspectives that are not in accordance with leftist ideology.
Illegal immigrants are protected and sheltered, immigration status is not checked, and probably other actions that would be surprising if a good investigation were carried out.
In a state that has been taken over by former blue staters, it’s not possible to get a fair investigation by Colorado state agencies, so I would encourage fellow citizens who still believe in U.S. law to contact the DOJ and ask for not just an investigation of ICE officers, but for an investigation of the Durango City Council and the actions of the Durango Police Department.
Let’s not have just the one-sided application of the law in a town that is still 50% traditional Americans.
