Applications for the 2026 La Plata County Electric Association board election open Sunday.

Four of the 12-member board seats are up for election: District 1, held by Nicole Pitcher; District 2, held by John Lee Jr.; District 3, held by Rachel Landis; and District 4, held by David Luschen. Directors serve staggered three-year terms, with elections held each year.

Each of LPEA’s four districts – Archuleta County, south and west La Plata County, the city of Durango, and north and east La Plata County – is represented by three directors.

To qualify, candidates must have been LPEA members for at least one year, live within the district they seek to represent for at least 120 days before becoming a director, and neither they nor any immediate family members can be employed by the cooperative.

Candidates must also gather 15 member signatures in support of their candidacy to appear on the ballot.

Applications and signatures are due by 1 p.m. March 21.

Additional information can be found at lpea.coop/elections.
