To our loyal readers – thank you for writing, and thank you for caring enough to tell us how you feel. These letters reflect exactly why local journalism matters: You are invested in this paper, and we are invested in you.
A few points in response:
The death of the Herald is not imminent. We are making some changes because we want to make the Herald even stronger and to continue serving this community. Please stay with us.
To Ms. Karotkin: I am sorry that our Circulation Department’s response left that impression.
To those concerned about the paper traveling through Albuquerque: That is not happening. Papers will be delivered same-day from the Durango post office – whenever your regular mail arrives.
I understand that for readers with P.O. boxes, communal mailboxes or a disability, this change poses challenges. For those subscribers, I strongly encourage you to try our e-edition – it is an exact digital replica of the print paper, available online at midnight. Please call our circulation department at 375-4530 or email circservice@durangoherald.com if you need assistance accessing it.
And to Ms. Kenna – perhaps Loretta could introduce herself to the mail carrier and relay the paper that final distance.
I hear you. I appreciate every one of you.
Richard G. Ballantine, Board Chair, The Durango Herald
