Local sports schedule for upcoming week

Plenty of high school home games at home this week

It’s crazy to think high school spring sports playoffs are only about a month away, but flowers are blooming, the sun is shining and it’s spring.

High school sports teams have enough of a sample size to know where they stand in the playoff picture and what they need to do to finish strong. Fort Lewis College’s women’s lacrosse and softball teams aren’t in the position to make any type of postseason, so they’re just looking to finish this season with momentum for the next one.

There are plenty of home games for Durango High School, Bayfield High School and Ignacio High School’s spring sports teams over the next week. Here’s the local sports schedule:

FLC sports:

Monday: Men’s golf at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona.

Women’s golf at West Texas A&M University WT Desert Invitational in Tuscon, Arizona

Tuesday: Men’s golf at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona.

Women’s golf at West Texas A&M University WT Desert Invitational in Tuscon, Arizona

Friday: Men’s, women’s track and field at Kit Mayer Classic in Golden

Saturday: Men’s, women’s track and field at Kit Mayer Classic in Golden

Cycling at Front Range Cycling Classic in Colorado Springs

Softball at Colorado Mesa at noon

Notes: The Skyhawks’ poor season continues after going 1-3 at home to New Mexico Highlands on Thursday and Friday. FLC is 7-31 overall and 6-22 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Colorado Mesa 18-18 overall and 17-11 in the RMAC.

Women’s lacrosse at CSU Pueblo at noon

Notes: The Skyhawks women’s lacrosse team is still looking for their first win of the season after a 14-7 loss to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Saturday. FLC is 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the RMAC. The good news is the Skyhawks’ closest game of the season was a 12-8 loss to CSU Pueblo on March 14. The ThunderWolves come into the game 4-9 overall and 1-6 in the RMAC.
