Poem to the editor: Your original voice

And there in the wilderness the voice became clearer

as the scuffing sounds of the conscious mind quieted.

You could hear it in the gentle wind

flowing over your lovely body,

in the cry of the raven,

in the rhythm of a distant drum,

in the haunting melody of a flute.

It is the voice you heard so very long ago

you had almost forgotten it

… calling your name.

Calling you out of your small self into a

wider and deeper place,

a timeless space.

It is the voice of your

Original self …

The voice of the

first loving touch,

the first deep sigh of happiness,

the first warm tears of joy.

And it is always there, calling your name.

Just beneath the surface of your anxiety.

Just below the surface of the

little fears and self-doubts

and the unsteadiness of your life.

It is what sustains and

allows your life to be.

It is the voice of your

Authentic Self:

The voice of your soul.
