We should each write our senators and representatives, not as Republicans or Democrats, but rather as deeply concerned Americans who believe that our country is on a road to ruin.
This reality did not start with Obama or Trump.
The extremist behavior across America in 2020 only painfully underscores how deeply divided we are. Political leadership is an oxymoron! They should find it embarrassing that approval ratings for Congress are only 15% positive and 66% negative.
The rational silent majority has no voice. Only the voices of the far right and left resonate with elected officials and the media. What about the rest of us hard-working, tax-paying, family-oriented, middle-of-the road citizens? Do we not count?
I implore each of them to put aside their party affiliations, and concerns with getting re-elected, and instead do what’s right for the overwhelming number of Americans who are counting on them.
The recent budget/COVID-19 package was politics at its worst. Political posturing seemed more important than helping Americans. We need help as much as we ever have in the past 75 years, but instead they play politics!
We should tell each of them to forget what Senate and House leaders tell them to do. Rather they should stand up and do what’s right for Americans. So what if they lose a plum committee assignment or a paltry piece of pork for their district.
They should do what’s right, not play politics with our lives.
