Colorado Parks and Wildlife will offer veterans and active-duty military personnel, including reserve and National Guard members, free entry to state parks during August.
Visitors must have a valid CPW military pass to be admitted. To be issued a pass, veterans and eligible military personnel can show CPW staff:
A form of active or retired military identificationDD form 2, DD form 2765 or DD form 214A Veterans Affairs medical cardA current Colorado driver’s license or state-issued identification printed with the veteran sealThe hang-tag pass should be visible from the outside of a service-member-occupied vehicle and will grant all passengers in the vehicle free access.
Military-pass carriers are exempt from admission fees only. Other fees, such as reservations, fishing and camping, will apply and may require licenses and permits.
State parks near Durango include Navajo State Park in Archuleta and La Plata counties, Mancos State Park in Montezuma County and Lone Mesa State Park in Dolores County.
