Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include Bow Wow Film Festival and the Edible Plant Excursion.

La Plata County Humane Society will present the sixth annual Bow Wow Film Festival virtually.

This year’s films will feature South Padre Island, where trained dogs are helping National Park Service and volunteers find and protect endangered Ridley Turtle’s nests; India, where a woman who was once in an elite military squad now puts her talents to work rescuing dogs; and Colorado, where children run and pedal trails around the world with people and their pups.

After purchasing a ticket, participants will receive a URL where films can be viewed any time up to Aug. 21.

Bow Wow is a traveling film festival that celebrates all things dog through short films.
