Durango Friends of the Arts will hold a membership meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 16 in the Sunlight Room at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
After a brief business meeting, journalist and community storyteller Ann Butler will present “Going out in Style: Death through the Lens of Art and Words.” She will be joined at this look at the not-so-grim reaper by political cartoonist and art historian Judith Reynolds. The lighthearted program will explore the history of death, the philosophy of dying, death in art, obituaries and obit cartoons.
The meeting is open to the public.
