American Airlines will add a summer flight to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport from June 8 to Aug. 17, 2019.
Tickets for the new route can be purchased at www.aa.com beginning Monday. The route will provide passengers with direct access to the Chicago area and other Midwestern cities, as well as beneficial connections to the East Coast and many international destinations.
The flight will be served by a 70-seat, twin-engine Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft.
“We are excited to see American Airlines responding to travelers’ requests for additional nonstop destinations to and from Durango,” Aviation Director Tony Vicari said in a news release. “Any time we increase air service options at DRO, it’s a win for our community and for the region.”
More than 370,000 travelers went through Durango-La Plata County Airport in 2017.
Chicago O’Hare is the nation’s third-busiest airport.
American Airlines also announced that seasonal summer service between Durango and Los Angeles International Airport will return in 2019.
The nonstop service to Los Angeles International will operate Saturdays from June 6 through Sept. 3, 2019.
American Airlines also operates daily flights between Durango and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on a year-round basis.
