Authorities responded to a man who was found dead at the Durango Downtown Inn on Sunday. The death has been determined to have been a suicide.
A man found dead Sunday at Durango Downtown Inn died by suicide, La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said.
An autopsy found helium asphyxiation caused the death, she said. He rented a helium tank from a local shop.
Jeffrey Reid of Virginia was found by hotel staff members Sunday afternoon, and his identity was not released until the family could be notified.
Reid, 57, had been staying at the inn for about a week.
