A huge game from Dylan Labarthe helped the Ignacio High School boys basketball team hold off a strong effort from a tough Dolores Bears team on Tuesday night in Dolores.
After Dolores took an initial 8-7 lead after one quarter, Ignacio responded to claim a 15-12 lead at halftime and a 27-22 advantage going to the fourth quarter. The Class 2A No. 10 Bobcats (8-2, 6-0 2A/1A San Juan Basin League) wouldn’t look back in the fourth quarter, as they secured a 40-31 road win.
Labarthe was the lone Ignacio player to score in double figures. He finished with 18 points. Bryce Finn added nine points, Brady McCaw scored eight and Gabe Tucson finished with five.
Tru Seekins led Dolores (4-6, 3-4 SJBL) with 11 points. William Swagerty and Hayden Tallmadge each finished with seven.
The win gave the Bobcats a key season sweep of the Bears after a 50-39 home win Feb. 9.
IHS has only three games remaining on the regular-season schedule with a 1 p.m. Saturday home matchup with Ridgway before a huge game at 7 p.m. March 2 at home against No. 7 Mancos, which IHS beat 68-50 in Mancos on Feb. 16.
