Steamworks to celebrate 18 years with cheap beer

Folks enjoy an evening at Steamworks on a recent Saturday.

Steamworks Brewing Co. will celebrate its 18th anniversary Sunday by rolling back prices to 1996 levels.

The Durango brewery will offer $2.50 pints and $10 pitchers all day.

“We’re rolling back beer prices to celebrate our anniversary and thank the community that has supported Steamworks throughout all these years. We couldn’t have done it without Durango,” Steamworks co-founder Kris Oyler said in a news release.

In 1996, Oyler and Brian McEachron renovated a former auto mechanic’s shop into a thriving 7,764-square-foot restaurant and brewpub.

“Time flies when you’re having fun,” McEachron said. “We’re gratified that we’ve been able to build and sustain Steamworks. It’s all about the locals who are the backbone, and we thank you all.”

Durango’s Ska Brewing Co. celebrated its 19th anniversary with a bash on Saturday.

Steamworks is located at 801 East Second Ave. The brewpub is open 11 a.m. to closing seven days a week.
