Flash-flood watch issued with thunderstorms expected

The National Weather Service has issued a flash-flood watch for today ahead of wet thunderstorms expected in the San Juan Mountains.

The flash-flood watch is in effect from noon through midnight.

The watch says: “Showers and thunderstorms will move over the San Juan Mountains this afternoon and evening. The heaviest showers and greatest threat of flash flooding will be near the Continental Divide. The threat of heavy rain diminishes after midnight.”

The watch covers Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, Silverton, Hesperus, Rico, Ouray, Telluride, Lake City and Pagosa Springs and vicinity.

Clear skies and warm temperatures are expected to follow, with highs near 90 and no rain in the forecast through Tuesday.
