‘Diversity’ means we live in Orwell’s world

I read the article “

“Diversity” is the new code-speak for “racial quotas”; it overrides the work and efforts of many people (“meritocracy”) in order to satisfy a trendy desire for “diversity,” “equity”, and so on.

No formal, objective studies have ever shown that “diversity” does anything beneficial or necessary for education. There are no laws for or about “diversity” as a necessary remedy for perceived social ills. Yet we are now allowing sometimes half or more of incoming freshmen to be unprepared for college-level work because of “diversity.”

Some colleges are changing their English courses to better reflect the poor English of “diverse” groups. Some colleges are getting rid of required simple mathematics courses because too many “diverse” minorities don’t pass those courses. There is a short story by Kurt Vonnegut called “Harrison Bergeron” about a dystopian future in which the brightest, best-looking, most athletic, etc., people were forced to wear handicaps and masks in order to bring their attributes down to the “normal” level. That’s what we’re doing with “diversity”: We’re dumbing down the United States to satisfy a cultural trendiness and virtue-signaling called “diversity.” And if people don’t agree with the necessity for “diversity,” they will get canceled, intimidated or otherwise punished ... just like in the novel “1984.” We’re there already.
