It seems to me that the definition of an American differs greatly depending on whom you talk to. To me and many others like me, you love your country and take pride in it.
You serve in the military if need be.
You pay your taxes and you work hard and do it as well as can be done.
You get along with your neighbors regardless of their political affiliations.
I love my country, I fly an American flag and I vote. I work hard and have for 50 years. I have never avoided or evaded paying my taxes. I have dedicated my life’s work in medicine and saving lives. Because I don’t fly big banners, bumper stickers and have flags flopping around in a smoke-belching, jacked-up pickup, many people may not think so.
I don’t believe in intimidation or bullying. This is all new to me and many others.
So knock it off. We’re all Americans.
