Biology staff expect to be able to recapture snake

A python was discovered missing from its cage in a basement room in Berndt Hall at Fort Lewis College on Friday.
“It’s believed the snake is still in the room and can’t escape,” FLC Spokesman Mitch Davis said in an email.
The 18-inch snake likely crawled into a dark space behind a sink and it will come out at night, he said.
Biology staff will be there to recapture it when it does reappear.
The snake is docile and regularly handled by students and children, he said.
Davis said information will be shared as it becomes available.
